In response to the recent earthquake that struck Bangkok and surrounding regions, the Thai government has introduced a robust relief program focused on property recovery, housing rehabilitation, and financial support. This initiative is vital for both homeowners and real estate investors managing affected properties.
Ms. Sasikan Wattanajan, Deputy Government Spokesperson, emphasized the government’s commitment to accelerating recovery efforts and restoring residential stability across the impacted areas.
Homeowners and landlords can benefit from several government-backed relief options, including:
Housing Repair Compensation-Up to 49,500 baht per affected household for structural repairs, including cracked walls, ceilings, and foundational damage. Payments are based on actual damage costs.
Rental and Temporary Housing Assistance-For properties declared unsafe, rental support of 3,000 baht/month is available for up to 2 months. Ideal for landlords housing displaced tenants or families seeking short-term relocation.
Funeral and Injury Support-Families who lost loved ones are entitled to 29,700 baht, with additional compensation if the deceased was the household’s breadwinner. Injured victims can receive up to 13,300 baht for disability-related recovery.
Livelihood Recovery Funds-Property managers, landlords, or residents whose income was disrupted may apply for up to 11,400 baht in occupational support.
Applications must be submitted within 30 days of the incident. Forms are available through all 50 Bangkok district offices or the official Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) website.
